Antonia "Toni" Michelle Cornell-Banke 1988-2006

Antonia 'Toni' Michelle Cornell-Banke passed away on June 9, 2006.

She was born in Lancaster on December 16, 1988. Her favorite pastime was reading, writing poems and debating issues. Toni was a person with a dream of helping society become a better place. In Toni's short life she touched everyone she met.

Toni loved life. When Toni set a goal, Toni would work diligently to achieve that goal and always did. Toni was the most focused individual I ever met. Her heart was as big as the biggest Ocean you could imagine. Toni loved her family and friends. There will be only one TONI. She will be missed by all. She attended Little Charmers Christian School, Gibson Elementary, Quartz Hill Elementary School and Bethel Christian School. She had just completed her junior year at Etna High School. Toni received the following honors or was involved with the following activities during her preschool through eighth grade: Student of the Month (four times); Christian character award for joyfulness and tenderheartedness; Outstanding citizen (two times); Achievement award (two times); Certificate of Merit and Outstanding Performance & Excellence.

Honor Roll throughout high school career; Member of the National Honor Society; Published in Who's Who Among American High School Students; National Scholar; Study abroad (went to study in Mexico to further my understanding of the language and culture); Secretary for the Spanish Club; Member of Interact through out high school career; Secretary of the Interact Club; Softball; Land Judging 03-05; Member of FFA; Member of FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team; California Scholastic Federation; Advanced Placement student.

Toni is survived by her parents William and Cynthia Sheaffer, of Callahan, and Jeff Cornell of Lancaster. Her grandparents were Wilfred and Norma Sue Banke (deceased) of Callahan. She is also survived by her brother Christian Sheaffer of Chico and sister Rene Sheaffer of Callahan. Additionally, she is survived by the following aunts and uncles: Tony and Linda Banke, of Las Vegas, Nev.; Roger Bank, of Las Vegas, Nev.; John Cornell, of San Antonio, Tex.; Shirley List, of Arlington, Tenn.; Sandy Talley, of Gulfport, Miss.; Susie Pearson, of Ocean Springs, Miss.; Sara Raskett, of Gulfport, Miss.; Shari Taft, of Panama City, Florida,; Ron Sheaffer, of Dover, Penn.; Shirley Mc Dermit?, of Dover, Penn. and Jane Buffington, of Dover, Penn. She is also survived by her niece Ansley Autumn, of Gulfport, Miss. and nephew Noah August, of Gulfport, Miss.

Memorial contributions may be made to : Interact Club at Etna High School, PO Box 340, Etna, CA 96027. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Jones on Friday, June 16, 2006 at 10 a.m., with a graveside service following at the Etna Cemetery. After the graveside service friends and family are welcome to a potluck at Jeffy Marx' home on Sugar Creek Road. Those attending are asked to park on Sugar Creek and shuttle or walk up to the Marx home. Jeffy's home is on the first left off of Sugar Creek and then follow the signs. Please bring potluck food items, but table service will be provided.
