Meet Rotary International Director (Zone23 /24) Jerry Hall

Jerry Hall became an active member of the 250 member Rotary Club of Reno in 1977, served as president in 1987-88, and has served in nearly every club committee capacity. At the District level, he served as Governor’s representative, Foundation Chairman, District Youth Exchange Chairman and member of the finance and Governor selection committees. In 1993-94, Jerry served as Governor of the 74 club District 5190. In 1998, Jerry initiated the District 5190 Governor Orientation program to identify and prepare potential Governor candidates in the district. He has also served as a Zone District Governor discussion leader, Far West President Elect Training Seminar Instructors Chair (twice), chaired the Sergeant at Arms team at the Zone 1 & 7 Institute in Seattle in 1994, and served as General Chair for the Zone 23 & 24 Zone Institute held in Reno/Sparks in September 2001. Jerry served as the District 5190 delegate to the Council on Legislation held in Chicago in 2001 and 2004 and currently is a member of the RI Strategic Planning Action Team focused on leadership training and education. Jerry and his wife Tasha participated in a National Immunization Day in Ghana, West Africa in 2000 assisting in the immunization of children as part of the Polio Plus program.

Jerry is the recipient of The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service and the Rotary International Service Above Self award. Jerry and his wife Tasha have hosted 12 exchange students. He is a major donor and benefactor. His wife Tasha, son Mike, an electrical engineer, and seven of his exchange students have also been named Paul Harris Fellows.

Jerry has over 40 years active involvement in the transportation industry. From 1974 through January 1993, Jerry served as the Executive Director of the Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County. During his tenure with the RTC, he was responsible for the creation and operation of the national award winning Citifare public transit system, transportation planning, paratransit service for the disabled, and regional urban arterial highway design and construction. After his retirement as Executive Director of the agency, the RTC renamed the 7 acre RTC administrative and operations complex the “Jerry L. Hall Regional Transportation Center.” Jerry is a registered Civil Engineer in Nevada and Arizona and works as a civil engineering and management consultant.

Jerry has been active in his community and has served in a number of leadership roles including the YMCA Board of Directors, United Way Campaign Cabinet, the Reno Philharmonic Board of Directors, the Washoe County District Board of Health and has served as a fund raiser for the Boy Scouts. He is the recipient of the University of Nevada President’s Medal for service to the community and higher education.
