Chair: Helen Lucas

The Membership and Retention Committee is responsible for promoting membership growth in District 5110 and for providing assistance to all clubs in initiating and implementing membership development programs with a special emphasis on retention.

Rotary membership is by invitation of local clubs. If you would like to be considered for membership by a local Rotary club, please contact District 5110 Membership Chair Helen Lucas (Click here to Email Helen)

Alternative Participation Membership Trial

Club meeting participation is essential. It is a sign of commitment to the purpose and principles of Rotary. It provides the opportunities for acquaintance which build trust and friendships. It provides a vehicle for conveying information and instruction that assist the club in achieving its objectives. It provides moments of inspiration. An alternative participation model must match these characteristics.

Circumstances may change for a Rotarian – travel, employment requirements, health issues that make it impossible to maintain participation in weekly club meetings. The member earnestly wishes to remain a Rotarian, and the directors of the club wish to retain the member, but without an alternative, the club must terminate the member’s affiliation with the club. This agreement provides for structured, alternative participation.

The alternative participation is a trial only must be approved by the club's board of directors. During the trial period there will be a limit of no more than three members from any one club participating in this trial. The individual Club's board of directors must file a report with the District Governor after 1 year. The attached forms describe in more detail the minimum requirements for alternative participation.

Thank You John Minter from the Rotary Club of Florence for developing this concept.

Online Make-ups

As a reminder to all Rotarians the Rotary Manual of Procedure allows all of us to do a make-up on line by doing thirty minutes of interactive time on a Rotary web site. Most that have tried this have done on line makeups at eClub One. However there are additional ways that are available to all Rotarians for doing make-ups.
