Club Internet Communications Officer
Job Description / Requirements

  • Equipment Requirements: The Club Rotary Information / Internet Communications Officer (ICO / RIO) needs to have unrestricted access to a Computer and Printer
  • Software Requirements: The Club ICO / RIO needs to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on his/her computer in order to open, read, and print "PDF" files which are transmitted by the District. Adobe PDF is the electronic document standard adopted by District 5110. The Adobe Acrobat Reader is available in the MAC, Win 3.1, and Win 95/98 formats for FREE download from the Adobe Internet web site at http://www.adobe.com or you can request a CD-ROM from the District Director of Communications. The cost is $5.00 for the CD-ROM.
  • Access: Needs to have regular, unrestricted access to Email and the Internet
  • Frequency: Needs to check Email on a regular basis. (i.e.: Each time you check your US Mailbox, you need to check your Electronic Email Box . . . in other words, needs to check it daily) This is very important!
  • No Email Restrictions: Needs to have an unrestricted Email address with the ability to receive embedded Email hot links and Email attachments up to 1MB in size.
  • Responsibility for Distribution: Will assume responsibility for conveying information received via Email and/or fax from the District to other club members as needed in a timely manner. In addition to faxing and/or hand delivering information to specific individuals (President, Secretary, etc.) additional duties will include:
    • Regular one minute District and R.I. News updates during club meetings
    • Distribution of all News On-Line articles, district newsletter and other relevant information to the club Bulletin Editor for inclusion in the club Bulletin.
  • Providing Information to the District: Will be responsible for sending local club information concerning projects, events, member achievements, etc. to the District Director of Communications on a regular basis for District-wide distribution via POSTA Email, the DG s Newsletter and Internet postings.
  • Training: Will need to participate in training provided by the District at the annual District Assembly.
  • Club E-COMM Network: Will be responsible for establishing a club network of communications connecting all members who are on-line via group e-mail, thereby increasing the distribution of information among club members and District Rotarians.
  • Meeting Attendance: Because of the nature and importance of this position, and because this individual will be the key communications link between the District and the club, the individual who takes on this responsibility should also be someone who has regular meeting attendance.
