Rotarian Judi presented a slide show of her trip to Guatemala and the distribution of clean water filters to the residents. The trip, in conjunction with other Rotary clubs and Heart to Heart International, gave out water filters to the many villagers in need of clean water.
The Central Point Rotary Club is known as the "best make-up" club in the valley. With around 70 members, everyone is welcome and no one goes unnoticed. Our annual "Pig Pickin Fun Night"...
The Medford Rotary Club is the original club in Southern Oregon, founded in 1923. In the last year we have supported our youth with over $40,000 in college scholarships.
In response to the 2004 tsunami in Sri Lanka and India, where many fishermen lost their livelihood, the Medford Rogue Rotary partnered with a rotary club in Chennai, India in 2005 to establish a vocational retraining center.
Over the summer, Judi Beard-Strubing of the Eugene Airport Club, and Bob Kings of the Lakeview Club, have been traveling around Oregon, California, Washington, and Nevada helping district leaders develop plans for making clubs Bigger, Better, Bolder. The following is an article by Judi giving us an update of their progress.

July 2010 Membership and Attendance Report:
At the end of the second month of the 2010-2011 Rotary year, five clubs in our district are already above $3,000 in Annual Giving. And there are three clubs already above $1,000 for the PolioPlus Challenge.
“For 20 people we’ll never meet….” Two South Coast clubs have joined to purchase two Shelter Boxes. ShelterBox is a global Rotary club project.
September is not only the month in which the school year begins, but it is also the month that Rotary designates as "New Generations Month." And all the more important this year, 2010, because New Generations has now been recognized as Rotary's fifth avenue of service.
2010-2011 Schedule for Incoming and Outgoing Ambassadorial Scholars. These young people are eager to visit our clubs and tell us about their ambassadorial experiences.
The Group Study Exchange committee is looking for individuals, ages 25 to 40, interested in traveling to Peru next May. The following article was written by a health worker urging his fellow employees to apply.
Service Above Self, Goodwill, Understanding, Friendship, and above all, Peace. That is the mantra for Interact District 5110.
RYLA stands for ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY. RYLA has been in existence in this district long before my time (since 1988) and is one of the foremost youth leadership programs in the nation.
This past June, District 5110 proudly sent it's first RYLArian to RYLA International. Included here is an article written by 2008 RYLArian Connor Springer from Klamath County on his adventures in Montreal.
World peace always seems like a trite answer, but if you ask a member of the Rotary District 5110 Youth Exchange Committee what they do, it’s the answer you’ll get: We try to create world peace in the future, one friendship at a time.
